Hands-free snapshots with Siri
ScopeSnap for iOS now supports Siri Shortcuts, allowing you to capture oscilloscope screenshots without opening the app.
When you invoke the ScopeSnap Siri shortcut, the app:
Connects to your configured oscilloscope over the local network.
Downloads the current screen image.
Saves the screenshot to your iPhone Photo Library.
This is useful when your hands are occupied with measurements or probes and you want to capture the oscilloscope display as quickly as possible.
Before you start
Before using the Siri shortcut, make sure that:
ScopeSnap is already configured to connect to your oscilloscope.
ScopeSnap has permission to access your local network.
ScopeSnap has permission to add photos to your Photo Library. Limited Photos Access or Full Access is sufficient.
You have successfully downloaded and saved a screenshot using the app itself at least once. This verifies that the oscilloscope connection is working correctly.
Using Siri
Once everything is configured, activate Siri and use one of the supported phrases, for example:
“ScopeSnap, take a snapshot.”
“ScopeSnap, take a screenshot.”
“Take ScopeSnap snapshot.”
Siri launches the shortcut in the background. ScopeSnap connects to the oscilloscope, retrieves the current screen, and saves the image to your Photo Library.
Note
The iPhone and the oscilloscope must be connected to the same local network.
The shortcut uses the oscilloscope connection configured in ScopeSnap.
If the oscilloscope cannot be reached or the required permissions have not been granted, the snapshot cannot be saved. Verify that manual snapshot download works in the app before relying on the Siri shortcut.
